Welcome back to Kanazawa!
After two and a half years of eagerly awaiting your return, Kaname Inn Tatemachi warmly welcomes you back to Japan and to Kanazawa, the historic and preserved capital of the Hokuriku region near the Sea of Japan!
No doubt time has changed us all in some ways, but in others, we’re still very much the same!
What can you expect when you arrive?
Here’s how things have changed:

- infection prevention measures
Like with many locations, we’ve adopted a number of safety measures to help prevent the spread of infection and keep everyone safe. Alcohol dispensers are at key locations, masks are still in full use, and temperature checks of staff and guests may be taken. Additionally, we now offer… - contact-less check-in
To reduce the risk of spread at the front desk, we’ve worked with the government to implement a contact-less point-of-sale machine, which has easy-to-follow instructions in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and, of course, English!

- relaxed seating in select rooms
Our “spacious” twin rooms are now furnished with additional seating and a breakfast table, providing a relaxed space in the morning to plan your day. - refurbished seating in Kanzawa Music Bar
The wall-to-wall seating with the best views of the bar and music booths have been reupholstered with a fine, silver velour to enhance our contemporary look. Chairs and stools have also gotten a make-over to match!
And here’s what hasnt’ changed:
- though some faces have changed, our staff remain representative of Kanazawa and the surrounding Hokuriku region
- we still have our luxurious western-style mattresses, spacious rooms, and locally picked and specially-made tea
- we are still the best location for sightseeing in central Kanazawa
- Kanazawa Music Bar, still serves unique and delicious cocktails with local ingredients and themes
What to expect in Kanazawa now?
All the big sightseeing spots are right were you left them! Some restaurants have closed; others have opened. Many shops have switched to contact-less payment systems and cash machines, but just as before, Kanazawa, like most of Japan, has a cash economy. Kaname Inn Tatemachi accepts credit cards, but be sure to reload your wallet before perusing the shops and restaurants.
As of this post, more than 90% of the people still wear masks, even outside or when socially distanced. Wearing a mask has become a standard of polite behavior when visiting businesses and sights or when talking with others.
Kanazawa has more to offer than you’ll find in most tour guides. Check out our link above or ask the front desk for advice when you arrive.
We’re ready and waiting for you!
